Update (Jan 14 2021): All of our practitioners will be able to see clients as of Monday Jan 18 2021. Thank you for your patience!

Update (Nov. 19 2020): Due to the rise in novel coronavirus cases in Alberta and after much deliberation and research we have decided to start temperature testing at Prairie Therapy. This process will start Monday, November 23, 2020. Temperatures will be taken with a non-contact infrared (IR) thermometer. If a client has a reading of 38 degrees celsius or higher they will be asked to sit for 5 minutes before being re-tested. If the result is still a high temperature the patient will be asked to reschedule their appointment and advised to reach out to their physician or seek help through *811. There will be no fee associated with the patient having to reschedule the appointment. Thank you for your cooperation! We will get through this together!

Prairie Therapy remains open at this time with all practitioners able to see clients (as of Jan 18 2021).

At Prairie Therapy we are following the most stringent guidelines from AHS and Physiotherapy Alberta, as well as any additional precautions required by other licensing bodies for our various practitioners. We are also taking all recommended and optional precautions to ensure the safety of clients and staff. Click below for more information on the steps we are taking

Covid-19 screening before each appointment

Each client is emailed a covid-19 screening form 24 hours prior to each appointment. We ask that you complete this form before arriving. If you are unsure whether an answer will limit your ability to come to our clinic, please call us to find out.

Temperature screening info and rationale

Due to the recent rise in covid-19 cases in Alberta, we have decided to begin temperature screening for all patients before each appointment (effective Nov 23, 2020). If a client has a temperature of greater than 38 degrees Celsius, they will be asked to sit for 5 minutes before being re-tested. If their temperature still is above 38 degrees they will be referred to HealthLink for covid-19 testing. They will not be charged for their appointment.

While we understand clients may feel conflicted about this decision, we feel it is our responsibility, and in the best interest of staff and clients alike, to screen as much as possible for covid-19 cases. According to the Government of Canada Coronavirus website, a temperature above 38 degrees celsius is one of twelve most common symptoms for Covid-19. The other eleven symptoms are covered in our 8 question screening questionnaire. (https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/symptoms.html).

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Staggered appointment times

We have re-arranged our practitioner's schedules so there are as few as possible overlapping patient arrivals and departures.

We ask that you arrive on time for your appointment rather than early. This will help us keep our waiting area as empty as possible.

Increased cleaning and sanitation

As a health-care facility, Prairie Therapy already followed strict cleaning and sanitation guidelines prior to the covid-19 outbreak.

Since the outbreak we have put additional measures into place:

  • Changed our cleaning solution to a stronger, faster-acting product that is guaranteed to kill viruses within 1-2 minutes
  • Instituted a minimum twice-daily sanitation and sterilization of high touch areas such as light switches and door handles
  • All equipment (exercise bands, balls, etc.) is sterilized between each client
  • Clients are encouraged to wash their hands before and after appointments
  • Hand sanitizer is available at the front desk and in every practitioner's area and frequent use is encouraged

Mandatory masking

Following AHS guidelines, all practitioners wear single-use disposable medical-grade masks while in client care areas. In staff areas masks are only removed to eat and drink.

Masks are also mandatory for clients. If you forget your mask we have some available to purchase for $2. If you feel you have a medical concern that limits your ability to wear a mask, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs

Physical distancing

Our waiting area has been changed to allow the minimum 6ft distance between clients waiting for appointments. During appointments, where physical distancing is possible our practitioners will distance themselves. However, due to the nature of the work, physical distancing is not always possible. Please contact us for more information.
