Osteopathic Manual Treatment

What is Osteopathic Manual Therapy?

The object of Osteopathic Manual Therapy (commonly referred to as Osteo, or Osteopathy) is to re-establish proper body functions by treating causes of pain and dysfunction. Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a patient-centered approach to health. Skilled palpation and a detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology and biomechanics guide the osteopath to assess and restore balance within and between all the systems of the body; musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, cranial and visceral.

The Osteopathic Manual Therapist uses a wide array of manual approaches to reduce and resolve strains, stress and dysfunction in all areas of the body. The goal is to remove restrictions to vascular, neural and biomechanical mechanisms and ultimately support the natural healing mechanism by promoting auto regulation.

Patients of all ages, from babies to the elderly can benefit from Osteopathic Manual Therapy. People with all types of injuries or conditions can benefit from treatments. Some types of conditions or injuries that Osteopathic treatments can help with are post concussions, lower back injuries, TMJ dysfunction, sinusitis, and repetitive strain injuries. Please contact the clinic to see if Osteopathic treatments can help you.
