What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy studies how the body moves, how it’s supposed to move, and what happens when it’s not moving the way it should. Physio is an evidence-based profession – meaning we rely on the best established research when determining the best course of treatment for your specific needs.
Physio is able to achieve permanent results through the use of therapeutic exercises that make lasting changes to your body. In other words, physio treats the cause and not just the symptoms. If you’re tired of getting only short-term relief from everything you’ve tried and want to take charge of your own health, physio is for you.
Physiotherapy will also decrease your pain and improve your function from the first appointment, through a combination of hands-on techniques (massage, mobilizations, release techniques) and therapeutic modalities including dry needling, electrical modalities (TENS, NMES), and more.
How is physiotherapy at Prairie Therapy different?
At Prairie Therapy, our treatments are one-on-one and the therapist sees only one patient at a time. There are no physiotherapy assistants or aides – so your physio is paying 100% of their attention to you for the entire appointment. Each treatment and exercise plan is customized to your specific needs. Because of this, your treatment plan will usually be shorter and require fewer appointments.
We’re experienced and successful in treating acute injuries, chronic/repetitive strain injuries, neck and back pain, arthritis pain, sciatica, vertigo, TMJ dysfunction, MVA/whiplash, concussion, and much more. In addition to in-clinic referral, we also have relationships with sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, chronic pain specialists, and more – so if you need something that our clinic can’t offer, we’ll get you to the right place.
We want to make sure we’re the best choice for you. If you’re not sure, you can book a free meet-and-greet appointment. You can meet one of our physios, ask any questions you have about the process, and see if we’re the right fit for you, obligation-free.
***Please note that we have not sought a contract with WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) and therefore we are unable to assess or treat WCB clients at this time. If you were injured at work and your workplace is WCB eligible, you must seek treatment at a WCB clinic. You can use WCB’s tool here to find a clinic.***
